A new serie of 8 workshops and a collaborative international chair to join : 3/8 The concept of cultural, natural and scientific heritage: scope and challenges?

General questioning: What is the status of cultural, natural and scientific heritage under international, European and French law? How effective its protection?
Questioning specific to Ice Memory: Should Ice Memory ice cores be protected as cultural, natural or scientific heritage?
The session will be exceptionally in French with FR subtitles. Q&A in English at the end of the session

Vincent Négri is a researcher at the Institut des sciences sociales du politique (UMR 7220), École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay. His work and publications focus on international and comparative law on culture and heritage, with an interdisciplinary approach combining law, anthropology and philosophy. He works as an expert for UNESCO and other international and regional organisations. His most recent publications include: Archéologie et bien commun. Figures de la propriété et du préjudice archéologiques, Rapport  de recherche, Institut des Etudes et de la Recherche sur le Droit et la Justice, ministère de la Justice, 2021.

Ambre Tissot is a doctoral student in public law at the Institut des sciences sociales du politique (UMR 7220), École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay. Her thesis, entitled 'Le bien-être dans les droits culturels' ('Well-being in cultural rights') is supervised by Vincent Négri. It seeks to map the uses of 'well-being', a notion that is a priori ajuridical, and to define its effects on cultural rights. Her research focuses mainly on the links between culture and sustainable development, with the aim of highlighting the role of culture in post-growth strategies.
